Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed. He is ready to bring in a new midfielder this winter. After the team is left with limited options.

That leaves Arsenal manager with only two midfielders available. Granit Xhaka and Zambie Lokonga, as Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny have recently traveled. Going to camp for the national team to prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations. Which could mean missing out on the Gunners for about a month.

Arteta said: “Right now we have very few options in the position, of course we are looking at other options.”

“He (Maitland-Niles) has been patient for a long time. which I understand the situation very well. and we thought It was the right choice.” 

Aside from midfield, Arteta is also in need of more strikers in the winter market, and is approaching a number of options, especially Fiorentina’s Dushan Vlajovic.

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal have begun planning for the January transfer window with the Gunners looking to further strengthen their midfield options.

Arteta has long viewed central midfield as an area in need of strengthening and wanted to sign two players in the summer, though ultimately Arsenal would only recruit Thomas Partey after paying his $60million release clause.
